Tribute to the Late Forbes Mukeya MwenyaDear Dad,Times and seasons may change but in our heart of hearts you still remain loved and cherished.God chose you to be our Father, He the creator saw it fit that we should be your children, to be a part of each other's destiny. Your legacy remains in us and your blessing extends in volumes. We thank you for the special times we shared and safely tuck them deep within that we may forever reach in & remember those beautiful moments together.Today we stand and shed tears at your passing but we trust our faithful God will take care of you. JER 31:3Dad…We will miss that smile that great sense of humour that peace you composed in the midst of trouble, it’s like I can hear you say behind the cloud in your simple calm voice saying everything is ok am in a better place my son, it’s amazing how you always made an impossible situation seem like a walk in the park.I recall watching our favourite sport football, I was supporting Liverpool because you had told me about how fast John Barnes would run on the right wing, and while we compared him to our local star John Zyombo of Red Arrows who we had watched over the weekend at the local stadium, I was mesmerized by their remarkable skill with the ball, with a smile you told me I could do it too if I put my mind to it, you encouraged me and I believed I was as good as John Barnes. You taught me to persevere in my endeavours even after I got injured and I was on clutches, you told me I could do it when I got healed. Thanks Dad for the principal of endurance in achieving my goals. Today it feels like we are 2 goals down with less than 2 minutes of play to go with 1 man down, but knowing you Dad you would have told me let’s keep playing son we have a 120 seconds to make a difference. Your life clearly made a difference to so many lives. After the football match you asked to see my school work, I thank you for letting us know that education was an important aspect of our lives, I remember as you drove me to school and you showed me what life lay ahead of me if I choose not to be educated and what lay ahead of my life if I attained an education. Most parents told my friends go to school and get educated you taught me why I needed an education from my elementary days.Though we both loved football, I remember sneaking out to go and play a game when I was supposed to be indoors you punished me with that school book you bought specifically for me to write that sentenceI WILLNEVER DO IT AGAINit took me close to a week, I thank you for instilling the discipline in me, thank you for teaching me what true and genuine love meant not in mere words, you taught me love is not measured by materials or pleasures given to each other but true and genuine love is in the heart, as it is written in the Bible “ain’t it easy to help or give those that love you”. Thetest of true love is the complete opposite, I thank God for the gift of LOVE and FORGIVENESShe had put upon your heart you never showed bitterness even to those that had hurt or spokenbad about you.My children and I will dearly miss you, I wish they would have got to know you more, thou the will know you by the love you showed me, you are the only human being who showed me the love between a father and son of which I shall Passover to them, thanks for living with me a legacy that promotes unity and immeasurable love, and which shall be passed on from generation to generation.I thank God for the time he gave us with you may your soul rest in eternal peace. From Mukupo, Chisanga, Mwingi and Chuwi.
