The down pour did not deter the mourners from witnessing Andrea put to rest just a few feet from where her grandmum and grandad where also layed to rest not long ago. The family had made a plea through the local paper (The Sentinel) for help in raising more than £4,000.00 to pay for her funeral. While friends and family were still struggling to come to terms with the shock death of the shop assistant just two weeks after she became unwell, teenage friends went on a campaign to raise funds. It is the second tragedy to hit brother Mitch aged 21 and 16 year old sister Gina after their mother Betty died from bowel cancer four years ago at the age of 55. A Charity night at Cobridge Community Centre raised £1,700Brother Mitch of New Castle expressed shock as his sister did not smoke nor drink too much. She was always smiling and got on well with everyone he added. She had just become engaged to fiance Chris Melia aged 23 and they lived together "She was the best person I ever met thats why I got engaged to her" said Chris when he talked to a local reporter. The avarage is about £3,500, it depends on exactly what the family requirements are. The Stoke on Trent multicultural community came out in full force to support the funeral with contributions. A Zambian mother Olga Kwendakwape made a contribution of £100 followed by a number of Zambians with impressive contributions though it could have been much better if the Zambian community came out and give maximum support.Response from The Zambian community in the Diaspora towards a funeral for one of their own remains nothing to be proud of as experienced by Zamuk.
